Visited here as a group of 5 for a family lunch. Food was fantastic, tasty and super fresh. Great value for money too. If I'm being picky, the wait we had to receive our meals was a bit long, but to be honest, we had plenty of time. All in all, it was very enjoyable and will definitely be going back at some time.

Unbelievable breakfast. The cafe has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Great menu with food cooked fresh to order. GF and vegan options. Staff friendly, also dog friendly which is a bonus for us too! Gets busy - we arrived at 930 and by 10 it was full. Booking advised.

I have to say, I've been really impressed with the staff here. They're all incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. Plus, the tea they serve is consistently excellent. I haven't had a chance to try the cakes yet, but I've heard they're also very good, so I'm definitely planning to give them a try next time.

Staying at Green Acres caravan park so new to Houghton Cafe on the Green. Arrived at 1:30pm and was served a delicious home made Pea and Ham soup with crusty bread. Excellent! Compliments to the chef and staff for making our lunch out a success. Also the flat whites are tasty. And not be be missed are the cabinets full of the most tasty puddings of all shapes, tastes and sizes. Lovely place

I took my wife, daughter and mother in law for a special treat on Mothering Sunday. Well what a fantastic time we had! This is a small unassuming restaurant that would not be misplaced if it was in central London rather than asleep village just outside Carlisle. It's an absolute gem. The food is well executed with precision and dexterity. We had five courses of sublime taste sensations; the beetroot dish being my favourite. The intensity and subtlety of flavours sets it apart from the mainstream. This is next level stuff! The service was efficient, warm and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. I cannot recommend this highly enough to customers or Michelin. This place is THAT good... wonderful!

Had a lovely road trip stop off here with my daughter who has coeliac disease. It was a real treat for her. The menu provided huge choice and all safely prepared by knowledgeable staff. The choice of cakes was unrivalled and we left with a selection to try. Staff were friendly and welcoming, service was great and the place was cosy and stylish. Many thanks
